Christine Deavel and J.W. Marshall have published poetry and essays in addition to the co–written play Vicinity/Memoryall, which appeared in 2018 from Entre Ríos Books. Christine Deavel’s poetry collection, Woodnote, received a Washington State Book Award. J.W. Marshall’s volume Meaning a Cloud was awarded the Field Poetry Prize. Together they founded Open Books, Seattle’s poetry–only bookstore, and ran it for over 20 years. Since selling the bookstore in 2016, they have each turned their attention to the study of theatre and to playwriting.
