Claudia Roquette-Pinto was born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1963. She received her degree in Literary Translation from P.U.C. (Pontifícia Universidade Católica) in 1986. From 1985 to 1990, she was the editor of VERVE, a monthly review of literature and culture. She has published seven books, five of them poetry collections: Os Dias Gagos (Edição da autora, RJ,1991); Saxífraga (Salamandra, RJ,1993); Zona de Sombra (7 letras, RJ, 1997); Corola (Ateliê Editorial, SP, 2001 – Prêmio Jabuti de Poesia/2002) e Margem de manobra (Aeroplano, RJ, 2005 – finalist for Prêmio Portugal-Telecom/2006). She is also the author of a children’s book, Botoque e Jaguar (Ed. Língua Geral, 2008). Her most recent publication, Entre Lobo e Cão – colagens e trechos em prosa (Ed. Circuito, 2014) is a compilation of her visual collages and excerpts from a still unpublished novel.
Her poems have been translated into English, Spanish, French, and German, and included in a number of national and international anthologies.
