Mary Burger is a writer, artist, and educator living in Oakland. Her writing often takes the form of cross-genre works that combine aspects of poetry, essay, memoir, and story, integrating lyric and narrative forms with language borrowed from science and other specialized taxonomies. Mary’s writing has appeared in numerous literary journals, as well as art and environmental design publications. Her books include Then Go On (Litmus, 2012), A Partial Handbook for Navigators (Interbirth, 2008), and Sonny (Leon Works, 2005.) Mary is a printmaker and mixed media artist, frequently exhibiting her work throughout the Bay Area and elsewhere in the U.S. In July 2013 she was a presenter at the 9th annual Printers Ball in Chicago.
